Fishing at Lake Mattoon - Ages 18+

Come join us while we get outside and cast out at Lake Mattoon. Fishing helps us to connect to nature, to each other, and to learn how to gather own food. Please call our office to sign up. Must be 18+ to attend.

Fun Fact: Early fishing lures were crafted out of bone, stone, or wood. In prehistoric times, people used to grab fish out of the water with their bare hands—or at least they tried to. With the advent of tool usage, humans began to craft hooks and lures to attract fish. Fishing enthusiasts have wanted to sit still and let the fish come to them for thousands of years! You’re engaging in a time-honored tradition when you and your friends set out on the water.

Fun fact: The microwave was invented in 1945 by Percy Spencer, an engineer at Raytheon. While working on a radar system, he noticed that a candy bar in his pocket had melted. Intrigued, he experimented with different foods and discovered that microwaves could be used to cook food quickly.
