Life skills club helps us to learn how to navigate and move through life in a manner that is beneficial to our growth and development. Fun fact: Botanically speaking, strawberries are not berries because their seeds are on the outside and bananas are berries because they develop from a single flower with one ovary and have a fleshy interior with seeds embedded within.

CWU Greenhouse

Join us as we tour the CWU Greenhouse located at the Science Building on Wildcat way. We will tour the different plant rooms and get to see Euphorbs, cacti, aloe, air plants, ferns, orchids, and if we’re really lucky the tortoise who lives in the greenhouse! Fun Fact: Bamboo is the fastest growing woody plant in the world. It can grow up to 35 inches in a single day.

Fishing at Lake Mattoon

Fun Fact: Early fishing lures were crafted out of bone, stone, or wood. In prehistoric times, people used to grab fish out of the water with their bare hands—or at least they tried to. With the advent of tool usage, humans began to craft hooks and lures to attract fish. Fishing enthusiasts have wanted to sit still and let the fish come to them for thousands of years! You’re engaging in a time-honored tradition when you and your friends set out on the water.

Fun Fact: Birmingham-based artist Willard Wigan makes the smallest artworks in the world, in the eye of a needle, which he calls ‘micro-sculptures’. The art is so tiny that it must be viewed through a microscope. In creating his teeny tiny sculptures, Wigan has to slow his heartbeat down and work between pulses. Wow!
