We are excited to share with you our newest program and services related to Covid-19!
These programs and services will be offered to communities in the 5 counties we serve. This includes Chelan, Douglas, Grant, Yakima, and right here in Kittitas where we are located.
These services include, but not limited to:
- Assistance in getting vaccinations and boosters
- Assistance to those who have contracted Covid-19
- Transitioning people into safer housing
- Activities around mental health and wellness
- Public Health Education Seminars
Assistance in getting vaccinations and boosters:
- Reach out to underserved communities; rural areas, minorities, including immigrants whether documented or not, and those with limited English proficiency. Many are unable to travel or might be afraid to come forward thinking they may be ineligible.
- Helping with scheduling a vaccine appointment.
- Arrange or provide accessible transportation
- Organize mobile vaccination clinics and events.
- Remind people of the second vaccination appointment if needed
Assistance to those who have contracted Covid-19:
- We can arrange food delivery through food bank partners like Meals on Wheels
- Daily check-ins to make sure consumers are doing well, and see what else they may need during their isolation period
Transitioning people into safer housing:
- As we know, long-term care facilities across the country were hit hard during the first outbreak of the Covid-19 virus in 2019. As a result, there were a large number of fatalities amongst both residents and staff accounting for 31% of all Covid-19 deaths in the US as of June 30, 2021. Since then, there has been a spike in deaths in August of 2021, due to the Delta variant.
Activities around mental health and wellness:
- Provide companion/personal support
- Facilitate peer support group meetings
- Arts and crafts like painting
- Mindfulness practice after each activity
- Outdoor activities like nature walks
- And more...
Public Health Education Seminars:
- We would conduct talks about the ever-evolving Covid-19 virus and its variants.
- This may include - how the virus spreads, the importance of wearing masks, types of vaccines and boosters, debunking myths, statistics on deaths both globally and domestically, and most of all, the importance of receiving a vaccine and boosters
- We can also assist in providing technical assistance to local health departments or other entities on vaccine accessibility
